現代日本のアーティストシリーズ、第4回目は渡辺豊の個展です。渡辺は1981年東京都生まれ。2007年武蔵野美術大学大学院油絵コース修了。人工物と自然とが入り交じった、奇妙な構築物で風景を描きます。固有色とはかけ離れた独特の色彩と相まって、渡辺が描く複雑怪奇な風景をのぞけばのぞくほど、私たちは画面に踊る「枝のようなもの」や、背景にたたずむ「家のようなもの」に、既視感と戸惑いを覚えるのです。「名も無い場所の名も無い空き地を想像し、その場に残る力や記憶を、具体化、再構築しています」と語る作家のさらなる挑戦を、どうぞご高覧ください。

The fourth show of the young Japanese artists series is a solo exhibition of Yutaka Watanabe. Yutaka Watanabe was born in 1981 in Tokyo. In 2007, he received an M.F.A. in painting at Musashino Art University's College of Art and Design. With a mixture of the artificial material and nature, he paints the landscape in an odd structure. The more we peer at the complicated, inscrutable scene Watanabe paints, combining unique colors far removed from the descriptive colors, we feel dejavu and confused by the branch-like thing dancing in the image, or the house-like thing lingering in the background. Please enjoy the further challenge of the artist who says "I imagine anonymous place and blank space, then embody and reconstruct the remaining power and memory.”
